Getting certified veteran-owned

WarrCo. is veteran owned & operated, and we're pursuing federal certification through the SBA's VetCert program. If you're a veteran business owner too, here's the exact path — it's free, and it opens the door to set-aside contracts.

  1. Register at SAM.gov

Create your business profile in the System for Award Management at sam.gov. You'll get a Unique Entity ID (UEI) — required before you can apply for certification or bid federal work.

  2. Confirm you qualify

Your business must be a small business, at least 51% owned and controlled by one or more veterans — and for SDVOSB status, by service-disabled veterans. Ownership must be direct and unconditional, and the veteran must run day-to-day operations.

  3. Apply through SBA VetCert

Submit the VOSB or SDVOSB application on the SBA's portal at veterans.certify.sba.gov. Since 2023 the SBA — not the VA — handles certification, and self-certification no longer counts for federal contracts.

  4. Get certified, then bid

Reviews typically take up to 90 days and certification lasts three years. Certified firms can compete for VA set-asides under the Vets First program and government-wide SDVOSB set-asides.
